To find out all the exciting events and things to do at this year's Whistler Film Festival, we chatted with Leah Primeau, Development and Sponsorship Manager for the Whistler Film Festival.
Tell us what's new and exciting for this year's Whistler Film Festival?
This year we have partnered with Artist for Peace and Justice, a non-profit organization founded by award winning Canadian screenwriter and filmmaker Paul Haggis for three intimate benefit events hosted by APJ Board Member, George Stroumboulopoulos.
We've seen some big name celebrities in Whistler in past years, who can we expect to see this year?
Well, we announced our honoree line-up on November 16th and we’re thrilled to have Daniel Radcliffe, Rashida Jones and Eric Beckman as just some of the amazing talent attending this year along with Rachelle Lefevre from the Twilight series.
We are also featuring Variety’s 10 Screenwriters to Watch with Chris Terrio from Argo, Reid Carolin from the Magic Mike frenzy, and Kelly Marcel from 50 Shades of Grey!
The Crystal Lodge has provided our 3 Bedroom Penthouse Suite to the Film Festival, can you tell us about what will be happening in this suite?
The suite is a really cool space and we’ve used if for a few years but this year we have a new sponsor, Sorel, and they’ll be hosting a the Sorel Gifting Suite in there! You’ll see a lot of our guests sporting new Sorel’s around town. They have such a great line of cool and very hip footwear.
Any hot tips/recommendations for first time Film Festival attendees?
The Spotlight on Daniel Radcliffe will definitely sell out as well as the In Conversation with the lovely Rashida Jones so buy your tickets early!
We are also screening the world premiere of Kokanne’s “The Movie Out Here” on Friday at 7:00pm. We’ve already sold over 100 tickets so get them while you can!
The Whistler Film Festival runs November 28-December 2, 2012 with all venues a short walk from the Crystal Lodge & Suites. To check out the full list of this year’s films and tickets head to the Whistler Film Festival website.
Favorite Spot in Whistler
We go to Whistler a ton as a family to bike and have stayed at a ton of spots in the village and the Crystal is definitely our favorite. Can't beat the location and by far they have the best staff and service in town. Going above and beyond to make our family and dog feel welcomed. The one bedroom suites with vaulted ceilings feel very private and spacious. Also during noisy times when the village is going crazy late night, the rooms are extremely quiet which is a must for us.
