World Ski and Snowboard Festival
The biggest winter event is almost here, the World Ski and Snowboard Festival is just around the corner, April 11 - 20. This year is going to be just as big and exciting as years past so you need to make sure to get your tickets now so that you don’t miss any of the action!
WSSF is the one of the biggest annual gatherings of winter sports, music, arts and culture in North America. The world’s best come to compete on snow but they also come to show off what they can do off the mountain too. The Olympus 72hr Filmmaker Showdown and Pro Photographer Showdown has quickly become two of the must see events during the festival. The best filmmakers battle it out for 72 hours to shot, edit and produce a 3 – 5 min short film to win over $10,000 in prizes. This event sells out every year but for the second year in a row they will be bringing back an encore show.
The Great Outdoor Concert Series offers up 10 days of free music right in Skiers Plaza, the music starts at 2:30 and goes till 5:30, perfect time to partake in après, WSSF style. There is also a Whistler Dogfest that celebrates Whistler dog friendly atmosphere and the communities love for our furry four legged friends. Another don’t miss event that is taking place during the festival is the Super Brawl Sunday which is a female roller derby bout that features Whistlers own Black Diamond Betties vs The Sunshine Coast Roller Girls.
For more information or to get your tickets to any one of the amazing events check out the WSSF website and don’t forget their motto: Party in April, Sleep in May’
Great Location, Nicest Staff!!
After reading several reviews on TripAdvisor, I decided to give Crystal Lodge a try. From the get-go, the staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped me set up lift tickets, dinner reservations, and ski rentals for my fiance. We had no trouble checking in, the rooms were comfortable, and the food was excellent. The centralized location of this hotel was perfect for hitting the slopes first thing in the morning, and walking around the village at night. Free wifi and valet for your skiis/snowboards. We never had to use our car (that was parked in their underground secure lot). I look forward to our next trip!
