WSSF Hit List
With the World Ski and Snowboard Fest well on its way, you have to make sure that you are using your time wisely. With so much going on, you need to have a plan in order to miss nothing and capitalize on all the fun.
If you were lucky enough to have snagged a ticket to the 72 Hour Olympus Filmmakers Showdown tonight you are among the few. This event sells out every year and has been hailed as one of the key events during WSSF; it is so popular that there is a second cut 72 Hr Filmmakers Screening on Friday April 18th for all of you that missed out on round one. There is also the Olympus Pro Photographer Showdown taking place on Thursday April 17th. You get to check out the world’s best photographers competing on one stage, doesn’t get much better than that!
When it comes to the art and music scene, WSSF has it dialed. There is a free concert each and every day at the main stage in the village with acts such as De La Soul, Shapeshifters and the Original Wailers on Sunday to wrap up the festival. For those who like electronic music and silence all at the same time you should check out the Silent Disco that is taking place Friday night at the GLC. There will be three different DJ’s spinning and you get to choose which one you want to listen to in your headphones during the night. The best part is, when you take off your headphones, it is silent and all you see is people dancing to their own beat.
Another amazing event that is taking place on Sunday is the Sea to Sky Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. This event starts at 1:30 and all proceeds go to the Howe Sound Women’s Center Society, this is your chance to stand up to violence against women by walking a mile in red paten high heels.
For more info check out the WSSF schedule with info on everything happening for the rest of the week.
Make sure you don’t miss out and remember the motto: Party in April, Sleep in May!!!
I always stay at the Crystal Lodge when I travel to Whistler. Service is excellent, the location is perfectly central, and the rooms are well appointed. It's probably the best property you could possibly choose to stay at in terms of location and affordability. I have only stayed here for the past four years when visiting Whistler, by myself, with my boyfriend or with my family, and I will continue to give them my business.
