Whistler Bike Park has records in sight
Whistler Mountain Bike Park is scheduled to open this Friday, May 17, 2013 and if warm conditions continue they will be set to break opening day records. The bike park trail crew has taken advantage of the fantastic, warm and dry start to spring, "allowing lots of snow to melt on its own while we concentrate on getting as much of the lower Park open and buffed as possible" says Brian Finestone, Whistler Mountain Bike Park Manager.
The final list of trails to be open on Day One has not been confirmed as yet but if the weather continues we may even see trails such as Dirt Merchant open on day one, "setting a record for its earliest ever opening," according to Finestone.
The Whistler Bike Park Team has already put some sneaky laps under their belts while filming for their latest video The Force of Nature. Don't be concerned about the recent rain, according to Bike Park Team Captain, Tristan Merrick we're set for the "best opening conditions ever! No snow, everything is opened, fully raked and fixed up. Aline is running better than ever and this rain is perfect to settle the dust."
The team at the Crystal Lodge has also been busy preparing the hotel for bike season in Whistler. We've been slowly converting our ski storage and valet services into summer mode (don't worry for all you keen skiers, we will still have ski storage available until the glacier closes). The Crystal Lodge offers complimentary bike valet and secure bike storage and we're located only a 3 minute walk from the bottom of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Finish off your day with a dip the pool or relax the muscles after a day of pedalling in the hot tub. The Crystal Lodge is the perfect hotel for your next Whistler bike trip.
