Live Like A #CrystalLodgeLocal

New to the resort and looking for something a little different? Let us help as we have polled our team of ‘Whistlerites’ to come up with a list of hidden gems to share with you.  This  ‘Live Like A #CrystalLodgeLocal’ program ranks the ideas from easy (green circle) to hard (black diamond).   We’ve even included ‘InstaMoment’ suggestions  where  you can share your pics using #CrystalLodgeLocal for a chance to win a $100 Crystal Lodge Gift Voucher.

Green Circle Activities

Kids Water Park

Spend the afternoon in Alpine Meadows cooling off at the free water park.  There is also a playground as well as tables and BBQ’s so you can turn your outing into a picnic.

Farmer’s Market

Every Sunday from 11-4 and Wednesday evenings from 3-7 head to the base of Blackcomb Mountain for the Whistler Farmers Market featuring locally produced foods and crafts.

Walk the Valley Trail to Rebagliati Park

Walk the Valley Trail to Ross Rebagliati Park, named after one of our local Olympian.  Make sure to bring a book that you can read on one of the giant chairs that overlooks the river.

People Watch at the Skate Park and Dirt Jumps

Whistler has the second largest skate park in Canada which draws some amazing talent.  Walk along the Valley Trail to the skate park and dirt jumps, you will be impressed at what some people can do.

Selfie in front of the Olympic Rings and Treats at Purebread

Head south down the village stroll to the Olympic Plaza, home of the 2010 Winter Olympic medal ceremonies.  Bring a blanket to have a picnic on the lawn while enjoying some Purebread treats

Blue Square Activities

Kayaking the River of Golden Dreams

Hop in a kayak at Wayside Park and spend the next 3 hrs floating down the River of Golden Dreams.  To turn this into a black diamond, try the excursion on a Stand-up Paddleboard.

Frisbee Golf

There is a 27 hole course that is located near Lost Lake cut right into the hillside.  The first 9 is fairly easy but the other 18 expect rocky ground, steep rock and forests.  This is truly an outdoor experience

Hike to Brandywine Falls

Head south on Hwy 99 for 15 minutes until you come to the Brandywine Falls signs.  From the parking lot the walk is only 1kms round trip, dogs are welcome.  Don’t forget your camera.

Sunrise Yoga at Lakeside Park Dock

Mornings in Whistler are amazing, why not spend it on a dock getting in your morning yoga session.  Don’t forget your bathing suit for a refreshing dip after.

Lost Lake Lookout

Head up the Sea to Sky Trail in the Lost Lake trail system and find the Lost Lake lookout that overlooks Whistler Valley and Nicklaus North Golf Course.  Definitely camera worthy

Black Diamond Activities

Joffre Lakes

Spend the day exploring the three crystal blue glacier feed Joffre Lakes located north of Pemberton on Hwy 99.

Bike to Parkhurst Ghost Town

Go and visit the old logging ghost town near Green Lake that was built in the 1920’s and abandoned in the 1960’s.  Easy walk once you are in Emerald.  Try and find the tree growing through the triangle piece of steel.

Lord of the Squirrels

This 20kms+ 1400m bike ride is not for the light at heart, from the village you are looking at around a 5hr+ trip but it is worth the climb up Sproatt Mountain for the amazing views and the legendary ride

Axe Throwing at Forged

This activity is not necessarily hard but it definitely takes some skill to throw an axe safely.  Head to Function and learn what it takes to wield an axe.

Hike to Garibaldi Lake

With turquoise-coloured water nestled between alpine mountains and a spectacular glacier as the backdrop, Garibaldi Lake is one of the most scenic destinations in British Columbia.
