Conducting a sales pitch or business meeting on a golf course is a tradition which naturally lends itself to social distancing. Golf meetings are a great way to bond as they provide a few hours of privacy for you to build relationships and of course enjoy the outdoors. If you live in BC, Whistler’s Nicklaus North Golf Course is a great place to get some time with a potential business partner as it’s secluded with amazing views of the surrounding mountains, and only a 4 minute drive from the Crystal Lodge. Providing a client with a round and overnight stay is a great way to thank them for their business and to discuss new deals.

A few tips for hosting a Golf Meeting in Whistler:

  1. Remember to have your business goal in mind. While golf is fun, the purpose of inviting a client is to make a connection and accomplish your goal. Be relaxed and casual but not overly friendly. It’s a good idea to have at least two topics to discuss.
  2. Be sure to pack your overnight bag with your normal essentials, plus some hand sanitizer, a mask in case you visit indoor spaces, your golf clubs, and of course, some sunscreen.
  3. Be sure to reserve an overnight stay so you don’t face a big drive home after a long day on the course.
  4. A good rule of thumb is to chat business the first 5 holes and then lighten it up for the rest of the game. You don’t want to only chat business for the entire round!
  5. Be sure to keep a steady pace. Although conducting a meeting on the green is appealing because it gives everyone ample time to discuss everything without interruptions it is important to not drag the game on all day.
  6. Don’t talk during someone’s backswing. The golden rule for golf is to pause the conversation when someone is concentrating. A great time to chat is when in the golf cart or anytime which is not during the tee-off or putting green.
  7. Be sure to follow up your round with a great meal to round out the experience. It’s the final step to showing you care and creating a sense of brotherhood. Table 19 provides spectacular views of Green Lake from their patio, or for a more vibrant scene head back to the village and enjoy a meal at Basalt on the Village Stroll.

Be sure to reserve an overnight stay so you don’t face a big drive home after a long day on the course. The Crystal provides a Sea to Sky Getaway package which offers great deals on accommodation and green fees. Contact our friendly Guest Services Team at 1.800.667.3363 or email [email protected].
