Winter Trip Planning Checklist 2024/25
Posted on November 20, 2024
Admit it – when you’re daydreaming during the workday, your thoughts often wander to Whistler, BC. Picture this: the mountain village draped in fairy lights, the crisp air filled with the scent of hot chocolate, and the white snowbanks against cozy shops and cobblestone streets. Whistler is where winter magic comes alive, offering an escape from everyday worries and a chance to create unforgettable memories. With 24 lifts across 8,171 acres of stunning skiable terrain, Whistler is the ultimate destination for everyone—from first-time skiers to seasoned pros.
To help you make the most of your winter getaway, the Crystal Lodge team has put together this handy checklist to ensure you have everything ready for your best ski trip yet!

DO YOU NEED RENTALS?
Maybe you’re pulling your skis out of storage after a long summer and realize they need some TLC, or perhaps you’re opting not to haul your gear up the Sea to Sky Highway—no worries! Premium Mountain Rentals, conveniently located right inside Crystal Lodge, has you covered with a wide range of ski and snowboard equipment rentals, all ready to hit the slopes.

HAVE YOU PURCHASED A LIFT TICKET YET?
Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, or taking in the breathtaking views, securing your lift ticket in advance is essential. The best part? The longer you stay, the more affordable your ticket becomes. You can also bundle your lift pass with ski or snowboard lessons for extra convenience. WHERE ARE YOU STAYING?
At Crystal Lodge, of course! Just steps from the Whistler Blackcomb Gondola, we’re the perfect home base for your mountain adventure. Plus, we offer a little extra comfort with FREE Ski Valet and Storage, as well as Boot and Glove Drying Rooms on every floor. It’s these thoughtful touches that ensure your stay is as convenient and comfortable as possible.

HOW ARE YOU GETTING TO WHISTLER?
Whistler is located just a 2-hour drive north of Vancouver, and it’s easily accessible via Highway 99. If you’re flying into Vancouver International Airport (YVR), you have several transportation options: Epic Rides, Whistler Shuttle, and YVR Skylynx all provide shuttle services up the scenic Sea to Sky Highway. Alternatively, you can rent a car or book a coach from either Vancouver Airport or Downtown Vancouver for a more relaxed trip in winter conditions.

WHAT WINTER CLOTHING DO I NEED IN WHISTLER?
Whistler’s coastal location means one thing: powder! As part of the Coastal Temperate Rainforest, expect fresh snow and some wet conditions at times. Be sure to pack gore-tex outer layers, snow pants, and moisture-wicking base layers to stay dry and warm. Don’t forget a warm hat, a pair of stylish gloves, and some comfy boots for après-ski strolling. And of course, toss in a nice outfit for a cozy dinner out—because Whistler offers plenty of dining options to match your style!

BONUS WINTER ACTIVITIES
While skiing and snowboarding are the stars of Whistler’s winter experience, there’s so much more to enjoy! Snowshoeing, tobogganing, snowmobiling, and even ice skating at the Olympic Plaza are all popular activities. For a more relaxing day, visit the Scandinave Spa for a soak or explore the charming village shops.
