If you are looking for untracked powder in the Whistler area but don’t have a heliski budget than catskiing is the answer.
Head up with a group of your closest friends for a single day or up to a 4 day cat skiing adventure with one of two companies.
Powder Mountain Catskiing and Boarding
Powder Mountain has single day cat skiing tours that take place at Tricouni Mountain which has a plethora of untracked powder and epic views. When it comes to snow fall, this area tends to get double to triple the amount of snowfall than Whistler Blackcomb Mountains. This area has over 4,300 acres and five peaks so you will run out of leg power before powder. The best thing about Powder Mountain is that if you book a heliski adventure and the chopper cant fly due to inclement weather, they have catski’s as a backup so no matter what the weather or adventure you will sure to get out.
Just north of Whistler in the small town of Pemberton lies Backcountry Snowcats which access the Southern Chilcotin Mountains. Head up on a 2, 3 or 4 day adventure where you get whisked away up to the lodge for days of home cooked food and powder central. If you are really into the backcountry you can also take your level 1 avalanche training course with Backcountry Snowcats, head out for a weekend and learn how to stay safe in and amongst avalanche danger.
Both of these area have green circles to double black diamonds so no matter what your ability level, you too can take in a day of catskiing. It doesn’t matter if this is your first or your 50th time up, the excitement of untracked powder is unparallel to any other feeling, it is a like being a kid on Christmas morning. Catskiing is like the best day of powder on any mountain but without crowds, lineups and cat tracks
