Get on the Water at Alta Lake
Looking for a new way to experience Whistler in the summer? Whistler Sailing brings sailing, wing foiling, racing, and lake life together on beautiful Alta Lake.
Founded in 2008, the Whistler Sailing Association is a local nonprofit sailing association created by a group of dinghy sailors who wanted to bring wind powered sports to the Whistler community. Today, Whistler Sailing is a fully accredited sailing and wing foiling school that teaches the Sail Canada curriculum, with programs for kids, youth, and adults.
Whether you are brand new to sailing, looking to build confidence on the water, or hoping to try something completely different this summer, Whistler Sailing offers a fun and welcoming way to get outside, learn new skills, and enjoy the mountains from the lake.

Adult Sailing Lessons
Whistler Sailing’s adult sailing programs are a great place to start if you are new to the sport or want to keep improving. Certified instructors provide instruction in a fun and safe environment, covering the essentials like water safety, rigging, knots, seamanship, basic sailing maneuvers, skippering, and crewing.
The adult sailing course includes four sessions, each three hours long, for a total of 12 hours of instruction. Sessions take place on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 5pm to 8pm. With a participant ratio of six sailors to one instructor, guests can expect hands on support and personalized attention as they build confidence on the water.
It is a great summer activity for anyone looking to learn something new in Whistler, spend time outdoors, and experience Alta Lake from a fresh perspective.
Private Sailing Lessons
For a more personalized experience, Whistler Sailing also offers private lessons. These lessons are tailored to your goals, experience level, and pace, making them a great option for first time sailors, families, couples, or those looking to sharpen specific skills.
Private Learn to Sail programs follow the nationally recognized CANSail curriculum, helping guests gain the skills and confidence needed to sail safely and effectively.
Please note that everyone using the club, including private lesson guests, must become a Basic Member. Membership fees are included in the private lesson purchase.
