Whistler has some of the most breathtaking views in British Columbia that also make for amazing backdrops for your Instagram photos. No matter if your feed is full of landscapes, adrenaline sports or if you are foodie, if you are looking to make your friends jealous on your next Winter holiday, here at Crystal Lodge, we have got the best Whistler Instagram spots for you to explore.
Surrounded by mountains, lakes, and rivers, it is no surprise that Winter in Whistler can provide beautiful photos. Adventuring up Whistler Blackcomb is a guaranteed photo opportunity as you can see out into the valleys surround Whistler Village. If you are not skiing or looking to find some unique Whistler photo opportunities, we recommend going to the following spots:
The Great Outdoors
Being the largest lake in Whistler you can expect many stunning viewpoints around Green Lake. Located north of Whistler, on the way to Emerald, Green Lake is surrounded by Wedge Mountain and the Armchair Glacier which provide amazing snowy backdrops over the stunning aqua lake. Hidden within Nicklaus North Golf Club, the Nicklaus North Dock is a must for a unique photo opportunity. The 10+ meter dock runs out onto Green Lake and has a backdrop of Rainbow Mountain. In the colder months, Green Lake also fully freezes which is spectacular when covered with snow.
Whistler Train Wreck
For those that are not discouraged by a walk through snowy trails, the set of carriages left at the Whistler Train Wreck from a derail train in the 1950’s gives off very artistic photo opportunities in the Winter. Majority of the carriages are covered in bright colored graffiti which bounces off the white snow on a sunny day.
Tucked away in Whistler Upper Village and next to Fitzsimmons Creek, Rebagliatti Park makes for some beautiful photos alongside the running river. It is also home to another amazing spot as the cabin styled, wooden bridge crossing the river makes for a picturesque scene from either on the bridge or below it.
A hot spot in the Summer, a hidden gem in the Winter. Brandywine Falls, located a 10 minutes south of the Crystal, is home to a 230 foot waterfall which is surrounded by a giant snow pillow from December until March. The trail head starts from the carpark and will lead you to an amazing lookout. If it has snowed a lot in the previous days, we recommend taking snowshoes to make the trek easier.
Can you think of a more Canadian activity to show off your lumberjack roots? Forged Axe Throwing has an amazing set up that allows you to throw massive axes into a dart board carved out of a tree, the only things you need to bring is enclosed shoes and you are ready to go. We recommend plaid shirts and beards to so that you get that authentic look!

Not only will you escape the crowds, but you will also capture beautiful Winter nature shots. Hosted by Canadian Wilderness Adventures, you will be truly running with the pack as you are guided by some of the cutest guides in Whistler. There are plenty of photo opportunities on this expedition, as well as time for you to get to know your four-legged crew.
