Dog Sledding

A uniquely Canadian way to explore old-growth forests while sitting back and enjoying a relaxing ride or mush your own team of sled dogs for a little added excitement. What better way to spend time with the family than out on the open trail with a pack of dogs? Once you arrive back at the base go play with the puppies in their pen and see what the future of dog sledding looks like.

Axe Throwing

It’s not very often you find a safe space to throw axes and it’s known as “acceptable fun”. Get ready for some sharp competition at Forged Axe Throwing.  Whistler’s #1 rated group activity will have your family dreaming of bullseyes for days.  A little family competition never hurt anyone.

Tube Park

Join in on the tube-tacular fun! With seven lanes of adventure to experience.

What makes tubing a family friendly activity? Well at the Bubly Tube Park the parents have just as much fun as the kids. With seven lanes ranging from easy kid friendly to adult friendly (longer and faster). There’s a lane for everyone.  Feeling run happy? Jump on the conveyor belt to save time and energy to get more exciting laps in.

Ziplining

Grab the family and hold on tight! Let your feet dangle above the forest floor as you zip across a valley. Ziptrek and TAG offer a variety of ziplining tours suited for thrill-seekers of all ages. Zip side-by-side or upside down for a little added fun. Each company operates on a different mountain which makes each experience uniquely different.

 

Other Spring Activities

Biking

Get a head start on your biking fitness and enjoy the Sea to Sky bike trails in Spring. With the majority of bike trails snow free by April, you can get some early season trail riding in. Spring biking has less crowds, cooler days so you can ride for longer and the dirt is usually nicer as it hasn’t been dried out.

Golfing

The best golf courses in Canada are in Whistler. By mid-May, Spring golfing is underway and the best time to get out on the greens and shake off any cobwebs that might have occurred over the Winter. Cooler temperatures mean you can take your time mastering your shots without feeling the heat from the Summer sun. Our favourite courses to play are Whistler Golf Course, Nicklaus North Golf Course and Big Sky Golf Course in Pemberton. You might even come across some of Whistlers four legged locals as the bears love the golf courses just as much as we do.

Sailing

One of the more unique experiences that Whistler has on offer is sailing on Alta Lake. Sail around the 2.5km lake and take in the amazing surrounding mountain views. With plenty of ramp access, it is easy to take your own sailboat on the water or you can rent from Whistler Sailing Club.

Hiking

Explore your favourite Whistler hikes in Spring and see them in a different light. Iconic Whistler hikes such Iceberg Lake and Rainbow Falls are best in Spring when the snow is melted enough for easy access and creating amazing waterfalls as well as giving the surrounding peaks enough snow to frame each view uniquely.

Bear Watching

After a long Winter, the Whistler bears are also starting to unhibernate and make their way out into the forest. Some will have new family members with them and start the process of showing their new born cubs how to forage for food and other bear necessities.
