Whistler Bike Park and the local trail networks surrounding it are known across the world as some of the best mountain biking in North America. The 2023 bike season kicks off in mid-May, and the Whistler Bike Park will bring people from all over the world to enjoy the lift-accessible trails.

There is a lot to choose from when it comes to mountain biking in Whistler, so to make it easier for you to plan a Whistler bike trip, we have listed what you need to know to start planning.

Must-Do Trails Outside Of The Park

Lost Lake Trail Network – Fun Fact: All green trail names pay homage to Whistler’s rich logging history. Names such as Molly Hogan which is a technique used to splice together wire cables used by logging crews or try your luck on Donkey Puncher which was a steam-powered machine known to haul logs around camp. Lost lake green trails are easy and fun for the whole family or those new to biking.

Lord of The Squirrels
Prepare yourself for the climb of your life. Make sure to bring lots of food and water. This trail is rated blue but easily feels like a black after you factor in the effort and exertion when descending after the few hours you just spent climbing. There is no other trail like this in Whistler. Lord of the Squirrels is a high alpine trail so make sure you have clothing for the sudden change of temperature and don’t forget your phone or camera to capture this one-of-a-kind scenic journey.

Micro Climate – This is a Whistler Classic! Located on Blackcomb Mountain and accessible by the Blackcomb Fire Road, you will be challenged by a long climb to an amazing and just as long single black descent. If you enjoy rock rolls, steep corners and loamy chutes, this could be your new favourite trail!  Please note, that this trail is not suitable for wet weather riding.

Green Monster – Get ready to look fear in the face and take on one of Whistler’s most iconic double black trails. This short but punchy climb is home to one of the longest rock rolls in Whistler, the 25ft long Green Monster. The catch is, that there are three challenging features before and after the giant rock roll, so be sure to have your game face on!

Must-Do Trails In The Whistler Bike Park

Del Boca Vista – A great warm-up ride for all levels taken at any speed, this green trail is a good trail for beginners learning to ride tech. If you are a more advanced rider, we urge you to check it out and ride it with speed as it is noted as a favourite amongst all riders.

Aline – Maybe the most popular flow trail in the world, and for a good reason. If you’re into long, fast, jump trails with big berms, tabletops, and natural rock drops than Aline is probably for you. This trail has everything, including a fast-paced tech section that has been generating stoke in bikers every day since it opened! Please note that this is a very fast Black trail, make sure you are comfortable on Crank It Up before dropping into Aline.

Schleyer into Canadian Open –  Two trails that when linked together will have you buzzing for days! Both are double black trails, Schleyer is a tech trail with mandatory drops, a janky rock garden and a fast exit. Canadian Open is a proper World Cup Downhill Track with open-styled tech, steep corners and step-down styled jumps.
