Have you ever tried to power through your day and found yourself unproductive and burnt out by 3pm?  Ensuring you schedule breaks through your day will actually improve your concentration, efficiency, and energy.

Here are a few tips on how to take effective breaks through your work day:

  1. Take a quick stroll outside to pump some oxygen through your muscles and get your eyes off the screen.
  2. Have a healthy snack to stop your brain from straying to thinking of sweets.
  3. Take the time to indulge in a good cup of coffee or tea.  A hot beverage automatically makes us pause for a moment.
  4. Give your body a good stretch – target your hamstrings, neck, and hip flexors after sitting for prolonged periods.
  5. Take a moment to close your eyes and do a quick meditation to re-centre your focus and calm your body.
  6. For lunch, take a slightly longer break with friends or simply away from your desk in order to refresh your spirits and have a bit of social time.
